I still get a lump in my throat when the national anthem is played, or at the pledge of allegiance. Some bozo has his hands in his pockets, his hat on or he is talking. I want to choke him. They’re only words though, right. No, they mean something. Every time they are uttered they honor those that have gone before us. Those who have given their all for this great nation.
Does the banner yet wave over the land of the free?
Does that banner still stand for the Republic?
Are we one Nation, under God, with Liberty and Justice for all? Are you qualified to call yourself an American?
America was born of the desire for religious freedom. Each year we celebrate the success of the Pilgrims in their effort to sustain themselves, and therefore their beliefs, and establish the birth of this nation. They survived.
Whose tyranny were they able to escape?
What important document did they bring with them that the King of England was demanding burnt all over Europe?
Why were they Protestants?
What were they protesting?
Come on now. You had better think. I will later use this evidence against you. From those humble beginnings we are given our first and foremost building blocks that makes us Americans, Religious Freedom.
As time went by the good Crown of England turned us into a Colony. A Colony of slaves. The injustices of the King were such that we could not tolerate them any longer. The Boston Tea Party was our first great tax protest. We became a nation of tax protestors. Why? As Newt said “Taxation is a Tax on Freedom”. The King refused to recognize the colonists’ rights. Oh Oh! Revolution time. The people of the colony told the King in no uncertain terms to go fly a kite. So what is it then that makes us so uniquely American? Surely not just the fact that we are tax protestors. No, it was the recognition by those revolutionaries that your Creator endowed you with certain unalienable rights. Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. John Adams recognized that our rights preceded all earthly government, rights that could not be repealed or restrained by human laws. Taxes and rights seldom mix. The one is bound by the nature of its existence to destroy the other. Guess who is winning.
So what is the Constitution of the United States of America?
Who does it restrain?
Who does it tell what to do and what not to do?
Having kicked out the King of England “We the People” became sovereign. Yes each of us individually and collectively were, and still are, sovereign. Sovereign does not describe kings or supreme anything. Sovereign is a term describing the relationship of mere mortals to one another. Sovereignty resides in the people. The Constitution is a grant of limited power to the U.S. Government and commands them to do or not to do certain things in order to perform their limited powers. This grant of power from the people is extremely limited. Even though that limited power was granted to the Feds immense power remained with the people. We must remember that we had also granted powers to the States. It was necessary to amend the Constitution so as to recognize the powers of the people and the States. The powers of the people are their rights. The first ten of those amendments are called the Bill of Rights. But they are not your only inalienable rights that are antecedent to all earthly government, rights that cannot be taken away or denied. John Adams’ recognition of your rights was written as the Ninth Amendment. Here it is. Short and sweet, very simple.
“The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people”
So what could these rights, the ones not written in the Bill of Rights, what could they be? Where do you think you might find these God given rights?
So let’s recap on this status of being an American. We have God given rights that can’t be taken away. We are the sovereign power. We control government. We are freemen. We have religious freedom. We have a right to Life. A right to Liberty. A right to pursue Happiness. All this guaranteed by our very special form of government, a Republic. And our Republican form of government is guaranteed by the Constitution. And not one mention of Democracy. Can my rights be denied or disparaged? Can they be repealed or restrained? I submit to you that they cannot. That is not to say that certain rights may at times clash. What then are we to do? The Constitution says that whether rights are enumerated or not, they cannot be construed in such a way to deny others or compare them to others in an attempt to deny their importance.
So who is an American?

How do you become one of those strange persons who are the envy of the world? It’s not as complicated as you think. Forget all the immigration controls. There really aren’t any. Doesn’t matter whether you’re born here or not. The Supreme Court has recognized that the rights of citizenship of the native born and of the naturalized person are of the same dignity and are coextensive. The answer is simple. To be an American you must pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands. You must recognize that we are one Nation, with Liberty and Justice for all. Under God? No that’s not proselytization. That’s history.
To be an American you must pledge allegiance to the Republic, to the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Therefore I suggest you learn them. You must recognize that we are a people of God given rights, and defend them. Not just the rights that suit you and your lifestyle, but all of them. And not just my God, but whomever your
Deity is. You may not like the consequences of some rights, but defend them you must, for to advocate the infringement of one is to invite the collapse of them all. If you don’t like the Second Amendment, live with it or leave. You can do that you know.
How about one Nation. Why then call yourself Irish-American, Afro-American, Asian American or anything else but American. That’s not being one nation, and proud of it. So you want to preserve your heritage. That’s fine, but the last time I checked the politics and policies of many of those “nations” were somewhat abhorrent to our declaration of rights.
Here’s a tuffy. Under God. No, to be an American you don’t have to believe in God. My God or anybody else’s God. But you do have to recognize that this nation must be under the power and influence of God’s Laws. No, that doesn’t mean that we must legislate to enforce God’s Law. But we must not legislate in contradiction to God’s Law either. Nor in such a way to force those who do follow God’s Laws to disobey them. Hey, it’s not that difficult. Our legislators are some of the smartest attorneys around. They could do it if they put their minds to it.
We are a fledgling Nation. We haven’t been around very long in the grand scheme of things. Two hundred and fifty years or so, that’s all. We haven’t really stood the test of time, have we? Now you would think that in order to sustain our unique union in would become paramount that the principal players would understand their roles. Maintaining the balance of the three way split of power between We the Sovereign People, the Feds and the States would be critical. Just as the balance of power between the three branches of Government, U.S. or State, is critical to their existence. The three branches of power at the U.S. and State levels certainly know their powers and limits. But there is a partner at the National level that has fallen. A partner that has become complacent and crippled. A partner who is so dumb that they believe that the other two partners care about them so much that they’ll look after their interests. Who is this partner? Yep; We the Sorrowful Pitiful Enslaved People.
Hey, wait a minute I hear some say. The other partners have given us this great Global Economy. We’ve never been better off. Why do we need to worry about our part in the power divide? I’ll tell you why. A Little man came on the television last week. He represents the Ruling Class Elites as Chairman of the Federal Reserve. He was telling the Working Class and the Middle Class that he was “going to make it hurt”. He and his banker friends were going to cause you pain and suffering in order to prop up their usury money system. You see the wealth that the Slave Class had built up, their savings, their retirement plans and their home equity was upsetting their banking system so they had decided to suck it all back. They were going to inflict pain until you had depleted your saving and retirement funds and given back your home equity. Then you can just keep working and we’ll let you keep some of your hard earned money to build your nest egg again. But beware, if you gather too much we’ll suck it back again. Please somebody wake the Sovereign up.
Hey, wait a minute I hear some say. I know all that stuff about history and the Constitution. That’s not relevant now. We don’t need to know our rights. We have laws to protect us now. Why should I worry about someone else’s rights? Well, did you ever hear of segregation? Or how about the rounding up and internment of fellow Americans that were of Japanese heritage. Think it can’t happen again? Did the laws protect those rights?
Hey, wait a minute I hear others say. Nobody ever taught me any of that stuff. I graduated
High School. Why hasn’t somebody told me about these things in more detail? Where can I learn about my rights? Well wait a minute. Hold on. Did you not take the pledge of allegiance each day at School? You mean the very “partners” that insist that you go to school and get an education don’t also insist that you know your role in the partnership.
You mean to say that the very fabric of our Nation isn’t as important as contraception, aids awareness and transgenderism. I thought that our schools were supposed to teach you how to become “productive members of society”. Oh, I get it. You are supposed to be the senior partner, but the two junior partners figured out that they could get their own way on things if they kept you in the dark. Mushrooms come to mind.
It is a national disgrace that High School graduates do not know the substance of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. It is criminal that we are not taught as part of our basic education our role in government. No. Not just our right to vote you dumb asses and elephants. That’s not your only role, or vote. Our role in enforcing rights is our responsibility and duty to our Nation. Without knowledge of those rights you cannot adequately exercise your right to vote.
Oops. That’s upset a few of you. Now he’s attacking my right to vote. Yes I am. Should you be able to vote in our Republic if you do not know what makes it such? If you don’t know your rights, how can you protect them? More important, if you don’t know my rights how can you protect them. It just may be your vote that tramples my rights. But which vote. You have the right to three you know. When you register to vote that usually places you on the roles for jury duty. You have the right to vote for representatives in legislative bodies. These representatives swear to uphold and defend the Constitution. If you don’t know what it says, we’re in trouble. Do you even care that they know what it says? Ever ask them? Bigger trouble. Why elect someone to uphold and defend your rights if they don’t know what they are. Oh, I get it. That’s why we elect attorneys. We can trust them. Besides, the Constitution is it too difficult for you to understand, isn’t it?
Years ago I used to watch a cable news show called Hardball. It became very clear why common folk like you and me don’t understand the Constitution. We cannot possibly be trusted to read it and ask sensible questions, let alone insist it be enforced. We’re simply too ignorant. On the show was former presidential candidate Alan Keyes. Now this guy is no slouch. I had listened to him a great deal. I’d always liked him a lot and thought he was pretty sharp. He was certainly a lot smarter than I am. Well, he took the viewpoint that the Constitution is simple, it says what it says. Boy was he wrong. How do I know? Well, an attorney said so. Now this super smart attorney was quick in cutting Mr. Keyes down to size. He insisted that Mr. Keyes had no clue as to what the Constitution said, after all, this super smart attorney had been studying it for forty years. We should leave its interpretation to the experts he proclaimed. Hum I wondered. The whole document only fills a couple of pages. Even with the Federalist and the Anti-Federalist Papers should only take you a day or so to read. And he’d been studying for forty years. Maybe he’s not so smart. I guess what he had really been studying was everybody else’s opinions and interpretations of the “intent” of the Constitution. No wonder Mr. Dershowitz was so confused.
Ok, back to you dumb asses, or elephants. You’ve elected someone that now helps pass a law. Does that law violate yours or my rights? Do you even know? Did they even read it? Newsflash, politicians don’t always get it right, they may have lied and screwed up. Well your next vote is as a member of the Grand Jury. You have a right to judge the law. You have a right to draw upon your knowledge of the Constitution and the rights of the people and by your vote declare that law invalid. You have that very same right when you serve as a member of the petit jury.
Rights as powerful as these should not be taken lightly. Your role is not that of a “productive member of society” for that is just elitist speak for Slave. You are a sovereign citizen. Act like one. Do your duty. As Lincoln said; “Study the Constitution…Let it be preached from the pulpit, proclaimed in the legislatures, and enforced in the courts of justice.” I respectfully and humbly add, let it at least be taught in our schools. We must of course do this without politicizing it. That may be a difficult task given that many words in our political system conjure up names of our political parties. You know Democrats and Republicans. Maybe we should pass a law forcing them to change their names. Why not just force them to be known as Asses and Elephants. That’s it. In order to educate our children in their role in society no political party can have a name that resembles anything to do with politics. Is that constitutional? I’m tired of hearing that we are divided Nation and that one party has more of a moral standing than the other when it comes to love of country. We are all struggling, just as our Founders did, with the age old dilemma of “how do we live together as a society”. I look around the world and I still think we got it right. The problem is we are not operating the system as it was designed. Sure we’ve made a lot of improvements. But not many in 250 years or so. There is within the Constitution all that is needed to satisfy the political aspirations of all parties. That is if their true goals are to take care of each other. Yes it’s that simple. We form societies in order to love and care for each other. That’s America. Here I go again pissing people off. From each according to ability; to each according to need. No not the Marxist version. That’s from the Bible you know and the Constitution. The right to Life, then Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness according to your needs. We are not all the same. From each according to ability. We are not all the same. In order to be a free and caring society we must contribute according to our ability. We must all work and labor as best we can to support ourselves. But work and labor must be free from constraints such as servitude, taxes and usury. Performed as a right and not a privilege.
